Around the grounds: Reds find the line in club rugby

Just three Shute Shield matches were played over the weekend.

Randwick’s match with Warringah was called off after the death of fifth-grade player Lachlan Ward, while Sydney Uni vs Parramatta and Penrith vs Northern Suburbs postponed due to heavy rain.

Jack Dempsey was released from Wallabies camp to play for Gordon against Eastwood, as he looks to improve his match fitness on the comeback from a foot injury.

Brumbies halfback Dewet Roos was in action for Southern Districts against Easts, with Sevens player Alex Gibbons coming off the bench.

Will Miller and Hugh Sinclair were back for Norths after stints at the Rebels.

No Waratahs players featured in club rugby, with the NSW squad in Japan.

Force backrower Onehunga Havili lined up in the second row for Palmyra in a thrilling 45-43 win over Cottesloe.

Hooker Harry Scoble started for UWA on a tough afternoon against Kalamunda, while U20s back Clay Uyen came off the bench.

Reds back Chris Feauai-Sautia and flanker Caleb Timu both crossed for Souths in a big win over Norths, with Markus Vansati in the front row, while centre Duncan Paiauaua lined up at 12 for Norths.

Jake McIntyre played at fullback for Sunnybank in a 27-31 loss to UQ, with prop Sef Faagase, backrower Adam Korczyk and halfback Moses Sorovi playing for the students.

Lachlan Maranta was at 13 for Wests, as they went down to Easts.
