London loves Marc

Marc Jacobs can do no wrong it seems. A new store, a fabulous show and the best party of London Fashion Week had the entire British fashion brigade cooing over the American designer famed for his chic dresses and urban styling. Jacobs showcased a mix of menswear and womenswear at the prestigious Claridges hotel on Friday, arguably the hottest – and most difficult – ticket to get hold of in town. Many editors where left in the cold as only a few from each publication were invited. The party continued at the Connaught hotel in Mayfair, where Sofia Coppola, Laura Bailey and Hamish Bowles danced, drank, ate and were merry.

After the show Jacobs told Style.com: Oh, I always think it’s silly to talk about themes and inspirations. The collection’s just always about this youthful, angelic, idyllic army. It’s comprised of a lot of things-big plaids, layered wooliness, gangly stockings-but really, it’s all about how people will break it down and wear it in their own way.” The Marc Jacobs boutique is at 24-25 Mount Street, Mayfair.
