British accessories designer Sophia Webster has decided to give back
to her loyal social media followers and reward one fan with not one,
but twelve pairs of shoes.
After recently hitting a milestone in social media terms, reaching
200,000 followers on Instagram, the quirky designer launched a
competition which would see one follower win a year’s supply of her
vivid footwear. In order to compete, online followers have to sign up
for Sophia Webster’s online newsletter and follow the details to be
eligible for the prize by February 19.
The London-graduate is one of many designers who has successfully
tapped into the vast number of social media outlets to connect with
their fan and customer base. Over the past six months alone, the
accessories label has seen over a 50 percent increase in followers,
which currently stands at 218,000 followers. Webster is aware that
these platforms have played an “integral” part in her label’s growth.
Over 49,000 images on Instagram alone have been hashtagged
#SophiaWebster since 2013 according to WWD, with a number of the
images being displayed on Sophia Webster’s online store, encouraging
fans to share their own images of the brand.
Webster highlights how the social media sites helps her keep customers
up to date as well. When she posted news on social media that her
iconic Butterfly Wing sandals had come back into stock on her website,
the label sold “200 pairs in 24 hours.” Since then the style has
transformed into the Angel Wing Design.
