The European Union’s Brexit bill to the U.K. would cover operational costs of 74 EU agencies and institutions, including the pay of English teachers in Brussels’ European school until the end of the academic year 2020-2021, according to a draft EU negotiating paper reported on by the Financial Times Thursday.
The document spells out existing financial commitments that the EU will ask the U.K. to honor upon leaving the bloc, such as payments under the Common Agricultural Policy agreed upon under the 2014-2020 EU budget.
Total financial obligations, as understood by the EU, would amount to around €100 billion gross, according to an FT estimate.
Another negotiating document covering EU and U.K. citizens’ rights, also obtained by the FT, says British citizens in EU countries would be granted “equal treatment” with EU citizens.
The two papers were circulated to EU countries by the bloc’s chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, on Wednesday, according to the newspaper.
