PlusLiga has begun – big surprise already

All results of this first round were quite easy to predict. Nevertheless, AZS Olsztyn scored an unexpected victory beating Jastrzebski Wegiel 3:1.

Season 2013/2014 began with a bipolar match – Polish champion vs. a “newby”. Asseco Resovia hosted BBTS Bielsko-Biala. The game was not very exciting. Rzeszow made a lot of mistakes and Bielsko showed quite a good game, not being an easy opponent. Their best scorer was that day Luis Jose Gonzales with 16 points and 38% of efficiency and on the other side we had Olieg Achrem with 10 points and 50%. Depiste the good show from Bielsko, Resovia didn’t let any set slip away and won quickly 3:0.

As we said in the PlusLiga predictions, Transfer Bydgoszcz suffered a lot of changes in squad. It definetely has an impact on their game. Last weekend it could be seen during the game with AZS Czestochowa. One of the weakest teams in the last season managed to beat the fourth one (and the last leader of the regular season, before play offs)! Milosz Hebda was a leader in attack and with great help from Michal Bakiewicz and Michal Kaminski he showed the way to the three precious points in this game. In Transfer Bydgoszcz the best scorer was Bartosz Janeczek (18 points, 33% efficiency)

Skra Belchatow, with a lot of changes in squad began this season from the game with Lotos Gdansk. Gdansk won the first part of the game, but it was all they could afford. It was a good game of Wojciech Zalinski who gave his team 20 points. However, he was beaten by young Wojciech Wlodarczyk from Skra, who had a fantastic run with 21 points and 69% of efficiency! With a support from Mariusz Wlazly (16 points) and the others, it could lead Skra to the first victory of this season.
