MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team officially opened practice for the 2015-16 season on Monday. The Dragons return six starters and seven letterwinners from last year’s team that finished 8-5 in dual meets.
MSUM is in its seventh season under the direction of Head Coach Kris Nelson.
Leading the returners is junior Blake Bosch, who was All-American at 133 pounds last season. Bosch finished with a 27-12 mark and earned All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference first-team honors. He finished eighth at the national meet.
Juniors Garret Hoffner (16-9 at 157), Shane Novak (13-9 at 125) and Isaac Novacek (14-11 at 149) all return. Junior Dan Murakami (nine wins at 165 pounds) and senior Nader Abdullatif (15-17 at 285 pounds) also return after starting last season.
MSUM has just one senior on the roster this year — 184-pounder Mike Urban. The Dragons welcome in a junior-college All-American in Austin Warren, who is expected to wrestle at 184 or 197. They will have four individuals who redshirted last year: Dylan Huttunen, Jonathan Lewis, Caleb Radley and Kristian Vasquez. A large freshman class of 18 has also joined the program.

MSUM will send a small group of athletes to the Rochester Open and Daktronics Open on the Oct. 31-Nov. 1 weeks The first full team competition for the Dragons will be on Nov. 14 at the Bison Open in Fargo, N.D.
