— According to USA Today, a yet-to-be-named XFL player has tested positive for coronavirus, as confirmed to them by a league source. The league revealed in a statement that the player is a member of the Seattle Dragons and told his team’s medical staff of symptoms sometime on Tuesday. He was immediately placed in quarantine and has remained there since while the positive test was only confirmed on Friday. The league further stated that the player competed in games against the Houston Roughnecks and St. Louis BattleHawks but was asymptomatic at the time. He is the only player in the league who has thus far tested positive. The XFL announced on Thursday that they were suspending the rest of their inaugural season indefinitely.
“The league is alerting players, staff, vendors and partners associated with the Dragons, Roughnecks and BattleHawks. The XFL is monitoring the situation closely and taking every measure necessary in accordance with recommendations set forth by the CDC.” – XFL spokesperson
