Major Update on the Live Broadcast Status of NJPW ‘Fighting Spirit Unleashed’ in Long Beach & How to Watch the Show

New Japan Pro Wrestling returns to the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California on 9/30 for FIGHTING SPIRIT UNLEASHED, an event that will cap off what has been an exciting month of action with major shows from all around the world.

We have a major update on the broadcast situation surrounding the event, which has been a topic of discussion ever since rumor began to swirl that, for the first time since the promotion’s expansion to the western market, New Japan would not air the special live on AXS television.

We can now officially confirm that is the case – AXS TV will not be carrying the live broadcast of FIGHTING SPIRIT UNLEASHED on Sunday, September 30th. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t still catch the show as it’s happening! The event will instead air live exclusively on New Japan’s own streaming service, NJPW World, with the taped replay hitting AXS on Friday, October 5th.

As previously announced, the usual announce team will get a bit of a shakeup this time around, as WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross will be joined by the English voice of NJPW World, Kevin Kelly, as the duo reunites for the first time in more than 20 years.

Those who are a fan of the usual AXS announce team of Jim Ross and UFC legend Josh Barnett need not worry, as the former heavyweight champion is only missing the show because of a previous engagement, and has promised to be back behind the commentary desk for New Japan very soon.
